Chris Johnson started Sewn by Chris in 2000, after receiving several bottles of wine as Christmas gifts without any gift wrap. He was looking for something to do in his spare time that did not take up much space. After emptying the bottles to use as manikins, he started to make traditional style patterns out of brown paper bags. The next thing he knew, he was walking the isles of local fabric stores and becoming inspired by the colors and textures. He also found inspiration in everyday items such as a ladies lavish faux fur coats and in pop culture. Chris puts hours into each bag paying close attention to details, assuring that each one is a true "one of a kind."

Chris' gift bottle coverings come in ladies' and men's clothing styles, and also in traditional (but still handsewn) "wine sock" styles.
