Wine Country Dining

Great Food Complements Great Wine

Where Do You Want To Go? Click Left. The Wine Country experience is probably as much about food as it is about wine. Nowhere else are the basic ingredients of great wine-food pairings more abundant than in the California Wine Country. The conditions that make the region perfect for cultivating world-class wine grapes bless the Wine Country with quality produce, herbs, meats, dairy products, and other chef’s essentials. Close proximity of the Pacific Ocean adds fresh seafood to the bounty. No wonder the Wine Country is home to so many fabulous restaurants. Access to fine wines, including many handcrafted in small lots and not readily available outside the Wine Country, makes this the perfect location for creating great cuisine. The best way to ensure a great meal in the Wine Country is to plan ahead. Here as everywhere advance reservations facilitate good tables in the most popular restaurants, especially on weekends.

Dining Tips

  • Reservations. For fine dining, choose your restaurants and make reservations as far in advance as possible.
  • Last-Minute Bookings. If you don't have reservations, don't hesitate to inquire about same-day availability as there can be cancellations.
  • Geography. In making your dining plans, keep geography in mind. Don't assume restaurants are convenient to lodging just because they are both in the Wine Country, as distance and rural roads can make for a long commute. When in doubt, ask when making reservations.
